What does it mean when your (Optiarc DVD RW AD-5540A)optical drive flashes the busy signal and won't read anything?

Don't create two threads on the same subject please, that is cross posting and we don't allow that.

How did you determine it is not reading anything? Go into My Computer and see if your optical drive shows up.

Ooops. Sorry. I'll stick to the alienware thread. My bad, still new to the whole forum thing.

I also tried to play a cd and a dvd in the drives and nothing happened. Only the top drive is flashing though. When I put a cd in the bottom drive it spins only briefly. ahhhhh.

I would call Alienware first, and see what they say. Shouldn't be that hard of a problem to fix. I imagine you may just have to re-connect the drives.
