I have got a Thinkpad Ultrabay Enhanced DVD drive and I would like to install it in a Compaq M2000 series notebook.
Is it possible?
Both sizes are identical, but the rear atapi connectors are different. The Compaq ones is the usual 50-pin atapi, but the ultra bay is a little different. There are any chance to convert the rear Ultrabay connector to the usual 50-pin conector used by Compaq? Thanks for the help.

If the connectors are not the same, it's a no-can-do. Sorry.

Most ODD bay modules use an adaptor on the connector on the basic ODD. All the bare notebook ODDs that I have looked at have exactly the same socket on the back. There may also be rails or brackets screwed to the bare ODD module or it might even be in a separate casing.
So the problem is whether the Compaq M2000 uses any special adaptor on the connector and needs any special fixing brackets. If you have, or can obtain, a dead ODD from the Compaq M2000 then you should be able to transfer any parts (also the fascia plate).
The only other potential problem is whether the ODD is master or slave. This is set in the firmware but is not an issue when the ODD has the secondary IDE channel for itself.
