I have a MPC Transport T1300 as well as a T2400 and they both came without optical drives.

The T1300 is basically a rebadge Asus Z62F if that helps...

This is the best information I could find online for these laptops regarding the optical drives:
    http://www.mpcdrivers.com/apps/sysco...571&Categ=4281
    http://www.mpcdrivers.com/apps/sysco...591&Categ=4281

However neither of those links list any actual model numbers for the optical drives, so I'm confused what to buy

Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it!

Links are broken it would seem.

    As for optical drives ...
Well, you might want to consider getting an external usb optical drive.
I don't even use mine (internal) any-more because of much higher practicality of USB flash drives and external HDD.

I switched most of my stuff to digital storage because it's better than to haul lots of DVD's and all.

Just ID your optical drive height and interface and find a replacement. See here. Vintage of your system means it's likely a 12.7mm PATA optical drive. Only final dilemma is if it needs to be hard jumpered as master/slave or CS.

Both the systems use a PATA optical drive. The size of the opening also suggests a 12.7mm unit. There's UJ-850 drives on ebay starting from US$10 that match that criteria.

Thanks nando!! I completely forgot about the non-working dell d620 under my desk, i took the out the "Toshiba Samsung SN-324", and it fit like a glove! Only problem is, I had to remove the faceplate or it wouldn't fit. So now it looks like this:

    I found these faceplates online:
Black Slim Line snap-on front bezel DVD-RW & Blu-Ray logo. compatible
but how would I know if they align properly? Since they don't curve in the bottom right corner like the laptop I think they might not fit...

Judicious trimming with a variety of tools can make any faceplate fit. Ultimately, only you will ever know the faceplate has been dremel-ed down to size.
