    Hi;

    I have an IBM ThinkPad T42 2373-M1U notebook with a 40GB hard drive. I want to upgrade it to an 80, 100 or 120Gb drive, but don't want the annoying IBM incompatibility messages and error code 2010. Do I have to therefore purchase an original IBM OEM drive with the proper firmware to be completely compatible and eliminate these messages on boot-up?

    If anybody can recommend a drive vendor who sells this sort of drive (discounted), that would be great. That said, If I can go with a third party vendor, can you recommend one and a particular make and model drive that will work properly? Thanks

    The issue you are referring to only happens on the T43 models. Any IDE drive should work.
