I just downloaded and ran Orthos and it shut down after 55 sec with an error. What could be the problem? Oh ya I have a 2 and a half year old HP DV8301nr.

usually it would be a memory problem, or not enough voltage is getting to the processor.
Did you undervolt your system?
If you did not undervolt correctly, orthos will fail.

I have not done anything to my system yet. I ran it again using just the Small FFTs and the StressCPU with Gromacs core settings( both for 10min) and it worked but the only temp increase i had was the hard drive (98*°f) the CPU stayed at 65° any time I run Orthos with the RAM involved it stops. I am confused/ concerned.

I downloaded Notebook Hardware Control 2.0 and I still get no CPU temp. What is going on!!?

download and run memtest86 on your system. If there's a RAM-related problem, is should come up running memtest86. If there's a problem, you probably have lifetime warranty on the RAM-modules, so just get them exchanged for new ones from HP. Good luck.

If Memtest86+ doesn't detect any errors, then the memory is fine.
To view temps, try out HWMonitor, RMClock, CoreTemp, Everest Ultimate, etc.
Run Small FFTs in Orthos, for at least 10 Hours. If the CPU overheats (badly, like above 85-90*C), the BIOS will shut it down.
You can also give Prime95 a try. -
I have found with my Acer Ferrari (Turion 64) when I had it, it would thermal shutdown, whereas my father's Sony SZ (Intel C2D) would underclock severely.
I'd say that it's overheating. The Ferrari stopped thermalling as soon as I undervolted it. It ran much, much cooler.
