    Hey guys,

I'm really frustrated. When I bought my Laptop back years ago, I choose a clevo 150sm because of its specs. It never occurred to me, that the laptop could have a non standard (german) keyboard layout. But it had. At first I thought "well I will cope with it", but I can't.

    Clevo Layout: http://www.notebookcheck.net/fileadmin/Notebooks/Schenker/W503/tast1.jpg
    Standard Layout: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_keyboard_layout#/media/File:KB_Germany.svg

I'm a developer and I hate the switching of layouts between work and home.

    Why is the layout crap?

    1. Worst thing ever: "<>|" is on the right hand. It should be next to the left shift. Try to write Markup like XML on that Layout!
    2. PageUp/Down/Pos1/End/Ins/Del: Those 6 Buttons are cramped onto 4 Buttons. When you code, you use them a lot to navigate and select text. It is really annoying to use 2 fingers for Pos1/End + several fingers for selection and navigation. Btw: You have to use the FN Key to enable standard keys! FN should only enable Laptop specific features. Not standard keys!
    3. The "#" Button is not next to Enter but on top of Enter.
Enter has a different form over all, but thats not the big deal.

The only thing the keyboard did right is, that the left-Ctrl Button is the leftmost button on the lowest row. Very important, because most shortcuts use this button. A few manufacturers put the FN button there. Annoying as hell...

So: I'm looking for a standard german keyboard that fits into my clevo p150sm. I would even sacrifice the backlight as long as all the the other keys/functions work.

You might be SOL. A lot of laptop keybaords use non standard layouts on some keys to be able to cram everything in a limited space. You could check whether older Clevo keyboards or newer ones are compatible if they have the same dimensions, but they may not be. You can basically forget about using keyboards from other manufacturers.

Sadly both the 15/17" models use the same keyboard... As far as I'm aware, there is no different keyboard especially a different version of the German one...

Thanks for your reply. This will never happen to me again. I was much to fixated on the specs and totaly overlooked the keyboard.
It would have been so easy to make a usable keyboard. I still don't get it why they did this...
