I have to admit that I am to some extent accustomed to post here and chatter over trifles when I am free and spend a lot time with my gadgets. But there always comes some boring things, such as the low power of ipads and phones. And sometimes I found the usb connectors on my PC is not enough to support my work as convenient as possible. So I searched on Amazon and found a relatively suitable item maybe I can use to solve my issue .

    Amazon.com : Unitek 8 Port USB 3.0 Hub (6 Usb3.0 Ports + TWO 5v 2a Ipad Charging Port) with 12v 4a Power Adapter and Usb 3.0 Cable, Via Vl812 Chipset, Support Windows Xp / Vista / 7 / 8, Mac Os X 10.8.4, Linux : Network Hubs : Computers & Accessories

Does this item worth being considered as a perfect one? Have the charging ports of this hub has the same capability of power supply as car charger or wall charger ? What will be the prominent performance? It seems that this seller has various kinds of similar products named 'USB HUB". I am afraid I could not make any decision but be attracted by its appearance and price unless you guys give me wise advice. Thanks a lot!

You do realize that this has an external power adaptor?

To me; this is a no name item that is not worth considering (it brings nothing to my portability requirements; i.e. less cables and power plugs).

The price is nothing to get excited about either. Especially when considering shipping costs and the possibility of RMA and/or exchanges for DOA or not fit for use in your scenarios.

If this was in a physical store I might try this (because I would return it that same day if it didn't meet my needs), but to order it online?

I have better ways to waste my time and money.

As for a 'perfect product'? Did you read the reviews?

Nothing is perfect - but if you feel you need to take a chance, go ahead.

For myself; I solved the USB port limits (I always need more storage) by getting a NAS that I can access over the net or on my home network.

USB connected devices are not a feature to me; they are an annoyance to be avoided at all costs. (Including dumb 'smart' phones and other underpowered handheld devices).

who else prefer not to purchase online ? It seems you have vetoed all choices about usb connected devices. I am not sure you will have the same experience to share with me.

There indeed also exist some bus powered hub. I prefer this because I want to strength its power capability when using as one of computer peripherals. Besides, as I know, normal usb 3.0 ports generally failed to charge my ipad. This one may work.

Of course it is up to you whether pay the money for what you want.

Bus powered means the total power is distributed to all ports on the adapter. Bad idea unless you're just running a mouse, keyboard, and maybe webcam. But to use it for charging, not a good idea, and will probably not even work.
