I need some help, i tried overclocking my ASUS G50VT-X5 using SETFSB(i found the right PLL) and went about overclocking. Well i reached about 3.1Ghz before it BSOD, i shut down and restarted my computer and tried again. I went to 3.0ghz~ and did a run of Prime95, well it crashed again.. So i gave up on it.

However, it seems now that my computer is unstable, even though it isnt overclocked the tiniest bit. Programs like Firefox crash randomly, and games will crash after only a few minutes. I dont quite understand exactly what the heck i screwed up, or how to fix it!

Damn me for fiddling with the devils computer tools!

This is a silly question, and perhaps a silly suggestion as well.. but have you turned it off completely? Remove all power, including the battery, put the battery back, etc.. then boot up and see what happens. I've never used setfsb, but that's one of the first things I would try if I were in your shoes.

Yeah, if you've only restarted, SetFSB's settings still remain. You have to shut down and start your computer again if you want SetFSB's settings to be reset.

Did you overclock the PCI bus?

Because that can result in data loss. Maybe a few system files became corrupt?

The top slider is for the FSB.
The bottom slider is for the PCI bus.

Maybe you should test setfsb again, we might be able to troubleshoot the problem.

I think it's good to have setfsb, even if you dont use it too much.

Maybe best to backup all your important data, then do a fresh install of your OS.
