    Overclocking 8600m GT To 8700m GT?

    Hi im knida a noob in OC and i no that the 8700m GT is basicly a overclocked 8600m GT and i was wondering if i can safly overclock it to the same or jsut about Clock speed of the 8700m GT can anyone tell me if i need like extra cooling or can i jsut buy a good notebook cooler? Is it safe to Oc without the cooler or is it safe at all to OC. Can anyone please give me step by step stuff be cause i am really a noob to OC as you can all tell.

    it will depend mostly on which version of the card you have. if you have the one with the gddr2 memory then no because that memory could never handle those kinds of clocks. the gddr3 memory may be able to handle it but its still iffy. remember than even tho the specs may look similar the 8700 is built to be running at those kinds of speeds whereas the 8600 is not. the laptop itself is designed also to work with the higher heat output of the 8600 as well which is why so far it has not been seen in anything smaller than a 17 inch.
