I want to try and overclock my AMD TL-58 processor but I have never done it before. Does anyone know of any good guides to read, or know of any posted in the forums already?

    Download nTune.

Then go to motherboard settings, move the slide and your done.

Stability testing will then come. Safe zone for that processor is 2.25Ghz. You can go higher if you want.

I overclcoked mine using that method

Not exactly sure. I have an inspiron 1521 with the ATIx1270 Graphics Chip. I have downloaded Clockgen and RMclock. I am looking for a guide as to the steps you would take in using these programs.

Use CPU-Z to find out what chipset you have. With ClockGen open, click options make sure "apply current settings at startup" Is Not Checked. Now open PLL Control and PLL Setup. DO you know your PLL? If you don't know your PLL then just start guessing, pick one and click "read clocks" remember this is not applying anything just reading. Now if you are in the correct family (such as ICS) it should display clocks, when you have the correct PLL it should display the clocks correctly. When you are in the wrong family it should not display. Once you have found the correct PLL move the slider in PLL Control to increase FSB. Then click Apply Selection. Now is it working Things like CPU-Z can tell you, running SiSoft benchmarks are fun. Now if there is instability and system shuts down no problem because it will start normal (box not checked). Once you get it where you want it and not crashing when your playing with benchmarks you need a little more thorough test for stability long term. Prime95 is free and does this. How long do you run it? I don't know some people are way intense and run for days others run for hours you decide. How much do you move up, small amounts, some say like 10%. I say your first one I would go big as all that will happen is shutdown then you know don't go that much next time. Shadow goes 2.25, sounds good try that if stable try a little more if not a little less. If I were you I would some kind of Temp monitoring utility, if starts to get to high change something. If this works undervolting is next. Once some people find the stable point they like to set to start on start up. I don't I find it easy enough to manually start and this is good if ever starts having stability issues. A normal start up is a little safer IMHO.

I use PLL ICS 951446, I can get a 1.6Ghz TL-52 up to 1.9Ghz I start having issues above that.

Chipset is ATI RS690. Clockgen comes up and only shows clocks for PC FSB and RAM but no sliders. Clockgen must not support this chipset?

Well without the PLL setup you can not pick one and so yea going to be a problem. Now sometimes mine will only show me "Clocks" and "Options" then I can't do anything either why this is I don't know. But I just restart the computer then I see "Clocks","PLL Control","PLL Setup" and "Options". I think even if not supported you should still at least be able to see those choices? Now also the button that says "Clocks" never shows sliders, "PLL Control" shows clocks and sliders. Don't give up so easy. Shut down notebook and restart then run ClockGen. If you get the 4 Choices go from there.
