How do i overclcok a Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T9400 processor? I have looked at many websites and tried many softwares like RM clock but they all don't work with this processor. Any help will be appreicated.

For starters, RMClock is not for overclocking.
Secondly, I don't think the dv5 can be overclocked. -
Thanks for the great reply buddy but it doesn't answer my question. Can somemone owning a hp laptop answer plz????????????

Overclock using SETFSB, you need your PLL, dont mess with this tool if your inexperienced though, and dont force the clocks up hard....at all, do it steady, check temps, be careful

you canNOT overclock the dv5t cpu
SETFSB does not work with dv5t (or dv4t). I have both.
Of course you can choose not to believe me and attempt to, but you will fail. -
No good givin up now
Whats the Mobo for that machine? -
catacylsm could u talk in simpler terms? I really didn't get the part about PLL. And do u have a link for the latest version of SETFSB? Thanks for the info btw

If you attempt to use it, you will screw up your laptop. -
If I were you I would listen to what Darth Bane said and not even attempt it, however it is your notebook to mess with -
My heating problem has gone down drastically for no reason!!! So i think that's its all right to overclock. Problem is the softfsb is too complicated for me to use so someone got a better option??

It seems quite apparent that the OP shouldnt be OCing the rig even if it wasnt already running hot. Its very common for people to think they can just move a slider or type in a new multiplier and be done with the OC job. That is 100% incorrect. The last time I did an OC to a CPU it took me about a week or testing in order to get a decent setting. Considering the burn time, temp watches and folding tests its not a smash and grab task.

Well i just overclocked my graphics card using nvdia system tools and everything was flawless. My GPU temperature hovered around 70-80 celcius while i was playing cod 2. My CPU also doesn't seem to get so heated up these days so i just wanted to try to overclock.
-
Overclocked Graphics card to 550/1450/450 heehe and temperatures didn't go too high..

Overclocking the gpu is 1000 times more easier then the CPU. HP motherboards will not allow you to OC the cpu. You can ask in every tech forum on the Internet, no on will be able to help you.

Overclocking your CPU will not give you any noticeable performance improvements, but will greatly increase the risks of damaging your system, expecially if you do not know what you're doing. Chances are, if you find SetFSB too complicated, you shouldn't be attempting to overclock your CPU
Besides, if you're overclocking to try to get some extra FPS in games, it won't help. The GPU is your bottleneck, not your CPU. -

Sean 473,my dear friend
i have a dv7t with the same processor and the same graphics card. Yes, i too have overclocked my card using the same nvidia tools. it works perfectly fine. As for my processor, i have basically monitored the temp. of the T9400 for like a month on various softwares and programmes and yes the temperatures are fine, bot that does NOT mean they will never give heating issues at all. using this premise to Overclock your T9400 is very risky.
Firstly, SetFSB or any other software does not work on the dv 4,5,6, or 7t notebooks. Secondly even if it did ( which is quite impossible coz if it did i woulda known_), its results are by and large unknown. hence failing one of the most crucial tests before overclocking, getting reliable information on post clocking performance. And going by the looks of things, you do not seem like the person to experiment with even setFSB, let alone other software. So take my advice and drop the idea. Its hardly worth the risks. Save up money and may be upgrade your processor later.
Hope this helps. cheers. -
Considering your proc isn't the very fastested intel has to offer, if you really want more power you might as well just upgrade your cpu...it'll be much simpler and safer than trying to OC it. On top of that the boast you'll be getting from an OC wont really be enough to justify the risk or screw up your whole system. Try looking at the T9600, found one on ebay the other day that sold for around $140 (although it was an ES model). If you dont know what an ES chip is google it or use wiki. Those resources are there for a reason...dont be lazy! Think of it as a learning experience =P
