Hi,
I have a Dell Inspirion 660s with 6 GB of RAM, 1TB Hard drive, and an Intel Pentium 2.9 GHz, and I was wondering if it was possible to get into the BIOS on startup, because this is running Windows 8, and Windows 8 has that "new" feeling, where you don't know if something is gonna work.
I need to overclock this thing to 3 GHz to meet the requirements for my favorite PC game, so please reply!
Thanks, Jake

You'll be able to OC it using GUI-based software (programs designed to work within Windows, such as Intel XTU for example). Also, from what I see, this is a desktop; in the future, you should probably post this in the desktop review forums if that's the case.
For your BIOS, you should only need to hit F2 when you see the Dell splash logo during the POST (during startup). Here is a user's manual you can refer to as well (details on BIOS are near the bottom, under System Setup).
I hope this helps you, Jake! -
... are you sure you need to OC it for the game to actually work? Hertz don't mean much in current CPUs (after they started releasing multi-core ones basically as even my old 1.8Ghz core 2 duo would thrash pretty much anything single core for quite a few years.)
Not that i am anti-overclocking, it just seems like a more, just because i can sort of thing, or as i do for more armies in C&C games and such without lag.
If it is indeed a single core (possibly P4? can't recall anything else that might need to be over clocked to run anything at those frequencies unless its really high end chips, which would probably run whatever games you might need with ease...) why not use windows xp or something, as it would simply be much smoother and allow for more CPU grunt to be actually used in game rather than OS. -
You already made a thread on this subject in the Windows forum yesterday which I moved to the desktop thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/off...mputer-discussion-lounge-136.html#post9123585. Please keep that particular discussion to one thread.
