So, I've been up the last 7 or so hours straight searching and reading for motherboard schematics for my Gateway P-7908u FX gaming notebook because I'm trying to figure out if it has the same PLL as the P-7805u. If someone else who owns a 7908 reads this, I'm sure they'll be right with me because apparently, EVERYONE owns a Gateway 7805u, but I can't seem to find ANYTHING regarding the schematics for the 7908. I wish to do the hardware/BIOS mods necessary to unlock my PLL and mess with my multipliers, and would appreciate any help I could get. Does the 7805 have the same Godzilla N-10 mobo as the 7908? And if so, does that mean the 7908 has the same PLL? Sorry if this is already a thread, but.. I'm WAY too tired and my eyes hurt WAY too much to look through all the topics at this point lol. Thank you SO SO much in advance anyone who helps.

Unlocking the PLL will alow FSB over clock not multiplier. I am not sue if the 7908 requires a hardware mod to unlock, probability it does like the P78xx series.
If you want to specifically multiplier overclock you will need an extreme CPU such as the x9100 but since you have a P79xx you may also be able to quad core the system with a Qx9300 or other overclocking mobile quad core. Note here is thr P79xx seies has not proven to go from C2D to Quad but all replacement boards seem to have that capability.
For any multiplier overclocking even with an Extreme CPU you will need a program called Throttle Stop as it does not seem to be supported in bios.................... -
Thanks so much to both of you for your prompt responses. Yeah, after all the research I've done, I've pretty much come to the conclusion that my p7908's BIOS is not ready for a quad core cpu unmodified. That being said, I'm assuming there is a way to mod the BIOS and put in the capability of upgrading my cpu to a QX9300 correct? Maybe I'm mistaking, but someone on here HAS to know how to either A: Tell me how/where i can download a previously modified BIOS capable of running on the p7908 without any bugs, or B: Modify a copy of my BIOS that I would upload right? Again, thanks so much for your help

After just checking this post I put up a couple weeks back, I just realized... TANWare.. you have a P-79??? From (the VERY limited) information I've been able to gather from the net, I've only been able to come to the semi-conclusion that all laptops from the P-79 series have the same motherboards no? I know for a fact they all have the same bios, and if I'm reading your Gateway's specs correctly, you're currently running a q9200 on yours???? I know you stated that I'd be able to upgrade my cpu to a quad core probably, but you said you weren't sure about it. But since you're currently running a quad 9200, I should be able to upgrade mine to a quad too right?? Thanks ahead of time for your help

If you head over to the gateway forums you can read up on my posts, along with others, and ask questions there. This is more of a Gateway specific questions and answers than general hardware. Also you should be able to get alot of info and help there.
