    Hey all-

I am looking into my options for overclocking my T5470 processor in my Vostro 1500. I have the 8600gt which functions well enough for most of the games I want to play, but the processor is becoming extremely limited. I have heard rumors that it overclocks decently, but I am a rookie when it comes to that.

Can anyone direct me with my options? The more specific the better. I am comfortable with software and hardware, I just have no experience in OC'ing CPUs.

Thanks in advance for your help/advice.

Most ways of overclocking notebook CPUs involve opening the notebook up to find the clock generator (PLL).

First I would say, go here:
    http://www13.plala.or.jp/setfsb/

    download setfsb.

run setfsb and try to overclock with ever available PLL.

If none of the PLLs in setfsb work, then you will have to take the notebook apart to find a chip (PLL).

It is usually an ICS, silego or realtek chip.

Look at the thread in my sig for a photo of my PLL, yours will look simmilar.

If you cant find it on your motherboard, upload some quality photos and I will point it out to you.

Most likely the only way to overclock your CPU is the following:
    1. Use setfsb (software).
    2. Pin mod the PLL.

I can help you with both those options.
Also sometimes you have to pin mod the PLL to be able to use setfsb, that is the third option.

But it all depends on whether we can find the datasheet for your PLL, without it overclocking is guess work and it's risky.
