What would be the best program to overclock my CPU and how would i test that it was stable?

To test stability Prime95 is good and free. I don't have Intel so do not know which for OC'ing. Notebook Hardware Control is free and might work? I use clockgen for my AMD.

As mentioned, use clockgen, or another thing that works is setfsb.

Besides that, your out of luck.

If this is the Intel chipset then if you succeed in getting ClockGen to overclock then tell us how. I couldn't figure it out. On the other hand, ClockGen happily works with the ATI chipset (I once took the 1.73GHz T2250 up to 2.6GHz).

Yes (some), increase the system bus and you are overclocked. Then you worry about heat? Correct? We can undervolt. All kinds of fun we can have. ;)

As said AMD yes we have, Intel don't know don't have. If not, then another reason to become an AMD fanboy! Not that I am one. :D

You could look at SetFSB which works for the Sony TZ (Intel 945 chipset).

However, don't complain to us if you push some component too far and it goes pop.

SetFSB works for a lot of CPUs, including the T series from Intel.Tested.

IF I can get my Core 2 Duo T5450 (1.66 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, 2 MB L2 Cache), what do you all think I could get it clocked up to? I don't want to find the absolute maximum, I'd like to find something that is attainable permanently, and that won't go POP! So if I undervolt, and overclock, what would that essentially mean?

    It would mean disaster.
Overclocking and undervolting don`t pair that well, since UV reduces the power(W) of the CPU while OCing increases the need for that power.
What you can do is OC to a certain speed, say 2.0Ghz.
The gradually start UVing until the system starts giving BSOD in ORTHOS(You must test with ORTHOS for about 1 hour at least).
When it gives BSOD, raise the voltage bar just a bit,run ORTHOS again and if it`s ok,keep it that way.
Make sure temps are below 70C.

Sure sounds great....but I'm a complete idiot when it comes to SetFSB. How the hell do I get it to work? I'd prefer it if people not come to me telling me that I shouldn't do it. I just wanna know how to get this damn program to work!!

I havent seen him around for a while now...

    I wonder why...

Well my GPU's been HELLA overclocked. My 8600M GS went from 500/400 to 700/500. What's amazing was the core overclock, up 200 MHz, I noticed a HUGE difference! I'm just trying to overclock my 1.66 GHz T5450 to 2GHz. My laptop's starting to age and I'm trying to get the little guy back into shape =D

And yeah I'm gonna do whatever I want to it lol, I'll freaking buy a new CPU if I must, just claim it under the warrant lmao. Anyways, again, how the hell does SetFSB work? It's so freaking confusing!
