I'd like to squeeze just a BIT more life out of this thing. I tried SetFSB and ClockGen to no avail. Anyone know how I can overclock it a bit? (The CPU, I can do the graphics)

you would need to know the exact PLL no. from the cpu clock generator chip..!!

Does your motherboard have a SLG505 PLL..??

I don't know, I was hoping not to have to open up the laptop and find the PLL chip. Was hoping someone knew for this specific laptop from experience or the like :)

Try out this PLL SLG505 with this software....
If it doesnt work, you would have to open the case and look for the PLL chip on the mobo..!!

Opened it up and looked at my PLL.
    ICS950810CG

A bit more research showed me that this is in the list of "Will never work" PLL's on set FSB.

    Why is that?
Hep, email ICS, I am sure that they can send you a pdf spec sheet on the pll chip.
I have a Cypress pll chip in my dell e1505, and I emailed cypress technology and I was given a spec sheet for the Pll, all you need to do, is read up on how it works, and you can hardwire the settings directly on the motherboard.
This can potentially destroy the system if done wrong, but when there is a will there is a way :D

I googled for the spec sheet and found it, here:
    http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/90066/ICST/ICS950810.html

How would I go about doing this mod? I can do the small component soldering I think, I'm just not sure what exactly would have to be done.

Also after reading through the specs sheet a bit, I see 100mhz, 133mhz, 166mhz and 200mhz. I'm pretty sure it's already set to 200mhz? I don't actually know what I am talking about but I vaguely recall reading that somewhere.

No software will be able to support that PLL since they do not have a System Management Bus connection or the FSB can not be set via System Management Bus. So there is and will be no program that supports these PLL's

These two are not supported, 950810; 950811.
    Whereas these are supported 950812; 950813; 950815; 950818.
    In the 95081x family.

I don't know about the motherboard hardwire thing K-Tron suggested, guess that is maybe the only thing you could try out..!!

If yours is already at 200Mhz, than you have hit a brick wall. The ICS clock generator chip can max out at 3 x66 Mhz, or 198Mhz. Usually the PLL generators can go to 3 x 75Mhz, giving you 225Mhz, but it doesnt look like the ICS chip in your system can do that. That is a killer, that is probably why it is not in the clock gen list, cause the chip is locked at 200Mhz.

Usually to manually set the PLL, you have to read the pdf and find out how to overrride the current settings with a wire connection to generate the 3 x 66, 3x 67, etc all the way to 3 x 75. Obviously their are lots of possibilities, since PLL's have anywhere from 20 to 40 pins, so the combinations are pretty high.
I know in the past, it is a simple solder of a wire from point a to point b, and that forces the clock generator to boost the fsb of the system.

Yeah, back when my PLL wasn't supported by software, I was into that PLL soldering thing as well :D, but never found a guide and the pins look really close.
Never knew about that 3x....thing, but wanted to give it a try since I had a replacement mobo lying around.. :D

Is it possible to clock the i945gm near 800MHz, tried that with CPUCool, but since it does not have the options to lock out the increase to the graphics chip, my display used to get really screwed up, like some disturbances and all....any idea about that K-Tron..?? :)

Well, thanks for all the input and advice. I tried to rep you K-TRON, but I've already repped you recently so it won't let me. Always helpful :)

I'll just deal with it at 1.6GHz unless anyone has other ideas. Not that big of a deal, it's just a spare lappy.
