nope.. nothing seems to work :( guess i got to scavenge the internet for another board :(

but i guess the TME hack worked... pinmod for 333 not so much... so if we could get any kind of support for the chip in setfsb, maybe we can overclock it. however i have checked in the m11x forum and saw that the pll seems to be missing all information regarding programming for registers 12 and 13... this could leave us with an un-overclockable board...

Did you use a 10K resistor?

If so, how could the board be shorted out?

Can you check your connections with a DMM?

I got some 10k resistors and used those... honestly I am not sure what the heck happened. Checked each resistor individually and some links leading from the pll to resistors on the board. It is really weird... oh well. Still looking for a cheap replacement board. Any ideas? Looking as cheap as possible for a replacement board for the d250 - any processor. I would love a n280 processor.

Bodgi, I OC'd my Acer using the 387 PLL without setting all the reg's correctly and it wouldn't boot. The lights were on (power LED) but nobody home. Blank screen, no disk activity and no keyboard response (caps lock etc). Turned out the BIOS got corrupted.

Luckily the crisis recovery worked. I think that might be worth a shot trying the crisis recovery if you have the same symptoms before you go out and buy a new board.

There seem to be a few tut's for the D250 such as

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=449382

You could just try first to initiate the recovery by

    1. Taking out the battery and AC adapter
    2. While holding down the fn & esc keys insert the AC adapter.

If you get the "orange flash" then it should be very promising to be able to do a full crisis recovery. Good luck.

Sorry, I don't know which PLL chip Aspire 7745G have. Try ICS9LRS3197AKLF. Aspire 7740G have ICS9LRS3197AKLF, maybe Aspire 7745G also have the same PLL chip.

overclocking a laptop? what a ridiculous idea. you must either be really really bored or you hate your laptop so much you are willing to tinker with it.

Clockgen mounted in Extensa 5630G is Realtek RTM875N-606 - and its probably TME locked.

    Hey from Germany :)
I hope you can understand my bad, broken, germanslang english :p
I've go a problem: got a Acer TravelMate 5735Z yesterday and wanted to OC, doing it with "setfsb"...but i don't find the right PLL!
    How can ich find this?
This is my first Intel, never worked with FSB and Co.
I want to OC it, cause for playing CS:S well, there are only 5fps that i need more.
    PLS answer!

    With best regards,
    terrorhai :)

If you have a motherboard from another 2420 then it's possible, yes. Economic, probably not. Most boards cost more than the notebook is worth now unless you have access to a working board. If it's not the same model notebook, even if it's the newer version of that model, it might not work. Only way is to try it yourself.

    Just some info for 4930G...
    Model: Acer Aspire 4930G
    Specs: see attached zip file
    Service Manual: link

I haven't opened the case yet, so I don't know the PLL for my laptop.
According to the block diagram in the service manual, the PLL is ICS9LPRS387.
However, Abo (the author of SetFSB) had a look at the diagnosis data and told me that it is SLGxxxx, not ICS

sorry for reviving the thread ^_^.. but i just need to know. if my Acer Aspire 4935 is OC'able. Found out that my clock generator is ICS9LPRS387 (without BKLF as m11x(ICS9LPRS387BKLF).) I tried using setPLL since i saw one PLL there that shows ICS9LPRS387BKLF*which is for m11x i assume* . and it doesn't work.

Anyone has better ideas for OC'ing this laptop. If it is brick so be it ^_^. Getting a new laptop anyways.

    thanks for the help :D

Ah i wished i found that earlier. Could save me the time from tearing my laptop apart just to confirm that i really have that ICS9LPRS387BKLF clock generator.

Was just wondering, i also tried using setPLL since it has the exact PLL provided, but upon sending #1 request to r-w it will get stuck even after leaving overnight. Any thoughts?.

    Thanks alot :)

If i used other clock generator for instance the 397 it will let me know that BCLK has failed. But for 387 i would just stuck at sending #1. Yep i guess i have to pin mod like the rest have done so. i'll take a quick peek at how to do it. I'm not good at delicate stuff. Lol.

Yep i need to pin mod. I just check on setFSB that my 09h (09) has overclocking disabled. Just before proceeding with pin mod, i would like some advice do you think my Acer aspire with clock gen ICS9LPRS387BKLF will have the same pin mod as m11x which also runs at the same clock gen?

If the clock generator is the same on both, so the pinouts should be the same too.

Thanks. Then i guess i'll see what i can do tonight :) . Hopefully i dont brick this stuff. Kinda new ^_^ well you never learn without any practice.

p/s: i saw from DavyGT's post that he just disconnects the pin 14 without a 10k Resistor. Which is better do you think? should i just disconnect without a 10k resistor (since it doesn't requires soldering or with 10k resistor)

    Thanks alot again

I just tried to pin mod my laptop. Didn't go too well. Instead my touch side panel (control for volume) isn't working properly, if i touched it too much it will directly shut down my laptop. Also when i look at setFSB it still shows 1 instead of 0(for OC'able). I'm guessing that pin didn't really get disconnected. Tried setPLL and computer will hang at sending #1 rw. Even worse than before. Lol.

I'm just wondering, the setFSB shareware version (which supports 387bklf) does it need to unlock TME aswell or did abo manage to do it the other way instead of doing pin modding.

I just tear my laptop again today.. and tried to scratch the pin using needle.. *didnt have magnifying glass to confirm whether its really disconnected* but from what i see it is. i ask another friend of mine and he saw it is disconnected too.. BUt when went on setFSB it still shows 1 instead of 0. Is there a possibility that i have different pin to disable?

You still need to unlocked TME regardless what version of SetFSB you use. I'm not an expert on this. You should ask help at PLL pinmod thread, they should be able to help you. Take a picture of your pinmod if you can & post it in the PLL thread.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/har...pll-pinmod-overclocking-methods-examples.html

OR M11x thread (make sure to tell them you have the same PLL):-
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...rther-overclock-m11x-r1-slg-hardmod-only.html

    EDIT:-
Did you select ICS9LPRS365BGLF & click "Get FSB" in SetFSB? You mean bit 6 is not 0?

Ah i see. Guess i'll find a good phone or a DSLR. 5 MP phone just won't cut it. Can't see anything. Lol.

Oh i went on Diagnosis> PLL diagnosis and see through byte 09. but regardless both from 365BGLF and PLL diagnosis for byte 09 shows i have 11000101 instead of 10000101 So i still need to TME unlock.

EDIT: Just worried i might really fubar'd this mobo.. lol

    Hello all.
I have Acer Aspire 8735G upgraded from T6600 to T9900 and 8 GB RAM DDR3 1333 MHz, 500 GB HDD Seagate ASG.

Now I read all topics with overclocking modes and I found some images and one youtube movie with SetFSB application.

There is no way to overclock my CPU T9900 ? I will post some captures with my SetFSB software in some minutes :(

    LATER EDIT:

    Here are the screenshots:

So must be working fine the overclocking, but is not working anymore :(
