    Hello,

I've read several web sites saying that dell's arent overclockable. Are non of dells models overclockable? And are there no wouldnt there be no alternative or different ways to overlcock them?

I was wondering if i could underclock the old inspiron 15. It overheats and then shuts itself down to prevent further hardware damadge. And because dell made there models so hard to open its impossible to give the inside a good clean  Would underclocking be an option. The system runs on i5 Nehalem and is mainly used for webbrowsing/officer productivity so preformance isnt a real issue. Underclocking how far will solve this problem, just like 5% or more?

I'd first like to experiment with my old Dell desktop, dimension 8250 with pentium 4: 2.4gHz. I've no previous experience and i think it would be wise to first try and then apply on a serious machine.

    thanks in advance!
    Daniel

From the link I already gave you (in the signature area from unclewebb).

    Download it here:

    See:
    Downloads

Doesn't need to 'install' - it simply runs from the exe file.

(If you do find it useful though, please donate what you can to unclewebb to show his work is appreciated).

Why don't you have administrator rights?

Programs dont seem to know what motherboard my dimension 8250 is running on. Does anyone know where i could find information about this ancient motherboard or could i check it on the system itself?

As far as overclocking is conserned the graphics card gives an error when i change either the memory speed or the clock speed it self.
Im running an ATI Radeon 9700TX with 128mB DDR
Is this due to any supporting programs on the computer or is it due to not having information about the mother board.
Furthermore when i benchmark my processor an Intel Pentium 4 at 2.4gHz it runs on the passmark benchmark at 332,5 CPU mark which is much higher than the normal ~270 which is average for an Intel pentium 4 @ 2.4 GHz. Any sugestions how this higher score was achieved?
Any help with overclocking this dell will be appreciated :)
