    P-6831FX CPU Upgrade?

    Well i ordered my new Mobile T9300 CPU yesterday for my P-6831FX my question is will i have to reinstall my OS after the upgrade.

    You won't have to reinstall the OS after the upgrade. At the very worst you may need to flash a new BIOS or tinker with the Device Manager, but that's it. Usually you'll only need a reinstall when swapping a hard drive.

    I don't think a bios update would help since there is no bios update on gateways site for this Notebook that i can i find, But i really do thank you for your reply.

    Yeah, almost certain you won't need to. It's just in a worst case scenario. I don't think any of the other FX upgrades I've heard of of have needed a BIOS update, and the upper-end FX machines do come with mid and upper range processors.

    Nope, it's just a drop in, then restart. Be sure to hold the laptop down after restart ;)
