hi all, I am new to this forum and after reading up on recommendations to buy the Gateway P6860FX for a fast and cheap gaming experience I have noticed there are some limitations with the T5550 @ 1.83GHz and a small 2MB L2 Cache. I want to upgrade and the T9300 will cost me slightly more than the Core 2 Extreme X7900. So I'm looking for the best gaming/encoding performance possible, that is compatible with my laptop and will release the bottleneck of the T5550 on my 8800m GTS.
GTA IV is a goal to be able to run on anything higher than all the details on low (besides Textures on Medium and Effects on Highest) and a 1024x640 screen resolution.

    cheers

Get the X7800, which can be overclocked to 3.0GHz.

The X9000 will run slightly cooler, and will be a bit faster, but can be overclocked only to 3.0GHz.

X9000 would be cooler and more reliable.

But if you're on a budget, I guess a X7900 would do the job.
