I was thinking of upgrading my laptop cpu to a p8700 2.53ghz cpu to add some performance to my machine. The upgrade is very cheap but is it really worth it. I have noticed on games and fraps recording my cpu is close to or on the limit. Also I do a lot of video encoding for games.

I am thinking soon as the upgrade is so cheap I should upgrade. When I say cheap £18 for cpu and my cpu is worth around £10. What do you think?

Anyone with experience from upgrading from p7350 to a faster cpu and fps difference.

I could always oc my cpu to 2.3ghz ish but I don't like ocing laptop parts. I prefer to have a cpu with more multiplier so it runs stable.

edit: I just realised p8700 runs at higher voltage then the p8600 I was considering. I think I will try to get a p8600 instead.

Given the age of the laptop, i wouldn't bother aside from the fun of upgrading if you like playing with the internals of a laptop. Another thing you can check is if your laptop came with multiple CPU configurations, maybe there was one with the p8700 and if it's the same motherboard which is likely, there would be nothing preventing you from upgrading.

Well I am tempted to bid on a p8600 which is going cheap.
