$300 for .27GHZ gain? Ouch! Ok, so it has double the cache, but ... Stay with the P8700!

    cheers ...

agreed, go with the cheaper one. Both processors are more than powerful enough for most tasks.

I am a newbie in these things though, what does doubling the cache do? Does it improve gaming experience?

T9600 or T9400 would also be a good choice and they're much cheaper than P9700.... only thing is they have higher TDP of 35W compared to 28W for P9700, but by undervolting there's no diff... don't go for P9700 its a rip off...

7zige in M'sia? Where do you find the laptop parts? And stick with the P8700, pretty powerful and won't give you much thermal problems at full load.

I would go for the Q9000 personally but if I only had a choice between the P9700 and the P8700, I would go for the P8700.

As stated many times before, the vast majority of games are GPU dependent anyway. My 2.0 Ghz Q9000 has no problems getting great frame rates in any Dual Core optimised game.

2.80 Ghz will potentially give better performance in quite a few titles but I don't think it is worth the extra $300.
