Hey. First time here and was just browsing these forums until I finally decided to contribute.
I bought my notebook from OriginPC. It's basically:
-i7 6700k
-64GB Ram
-GTX 1080 SLI
-512GB m.2 raid 0 (x2 256gb)(operating system)
-4tb ssd raid 0 (x2 2tb)(storage)
-wireless card ac1535 or something. (killer wireless)
Just wondering if there are upgrades aside from the storage. Like a better cpu or better gpu (couldn't find netbook gpus ANYWHERE)

Mobile RTX 2080 is very expensive and swings between a downgrade, sidegrade or upgrade on a per game basis depending on sli support for the 1080s. It is more efficient though.
You can rather easily upgrade the CPU to a 6 or 8 core, but cooling needs improvement to make it worthwhile. Modding the P870TM cpu heatsink to fit is possible, but not simple. The bios is custom and unofficial too. I have a 9900K in mine but I wouldn't recommend it without serious cooling modding. The 8700K/8086K or 9700K are more suited.
If your ram is 2133mhz you may see a few % improvement to 2666 or faster.
It depends on whether you just have the general itch or there's something that you are specifically dissatisfied with. -

Clevo also can't forecast things like that in advance, product cycles are too short and things change too quickly and too secretly at the hardware manufacturers. Even something like confirming an upcoming product retains the same socket would be breaching NDA/confidentiality with their partners. And nobody's going to be stupid enough to make official promises of upgradeablility after the legions of dissatisfied buyers and the fiasco that was (and still is) MSI's trade-up program.Last edited: Sep 5, 2019Papusan and tilleroftheearth like this. -
But Clevo could make official BIOS instead of end users relying on hacked/modded BIOS from third parties, its not a 1k $ laptop, they could give half a crap about system support, but like all others, its sell and forget.

Prema did engineer a bios for 9900k support in the DM3 and KM but the board has a power limit that affects stability under heavy overclocked use, so it was not distributed through Prema partners. So there are hardware reasons underlying some decisions too. Many of the Z170/Z270 desktop motherboards choke even worse when a 9900K demands things of their designed-for-quadcores VRM. -
