Hi everybody here is the deal:

My uncle have some friends that work in Lanix (A mexican laptop maker) and they gave him 3x P9500 (ES) samples, his friends told him that those processors are in excellent shape, they were never used for stressing tests just light and few booting and bios tests, my uncle used orthos for 6 hours to stress the cpus to see if they could resist later and the cpus performed very well and he says that they were ULTRA stable.

They are labeled as QDXD wich it seems to be the last version of ES samples, also his lanix friends told him that those chips are like QS chips (quality samples). It seems that the QDXD has a C0 steeping is that any good?.

My uncle phoned me last night saying that he would gladly give me a P9500 for my new gateway MC78 (not yet here :p). The laptop has a T5800.

    Specs:
    P9500(ES)- QDXD:
    clock: 2.53 ghz
    cache: 6mb
    TDP: 25W
    Build: 45nm
    bus: 1066 mhz

    T5800 - gateway default:
    clock: 2.0 ghz
    cache: 2mb
    TDP: 35W
    Build: 65nm
    bus: 800 mhz

Is it worth upgrading? as far I know it should be a good performance increase also the P9500 is like a free upgrade. Should I do stress tests? what do you think guys?.

Sure. It's faster and has a lower TDP, which means your laptop will run faster, longer, and cooler. Why not?

many people here use ES chips without any issue. I'd take one.

I'm not familiar with the laptop, but is it even compatible? The T5800 is a 65nm 800mhz chip, while the P9500 is 45nm and 1066mhz. They're not usually interchangeable.

Don't compare CPUs straight up for compatibility. As long as it uses a PM or GM45 chipset then you're fine. And yes, if you are comfortable upgrading the CPU, go for it!
