I was configuring my new M860TU... besides the wattage difference.. is there anything else I should know about these two procs? And is the lower power consumption of the P worth the money?

The P9500 would create lesser heat, and would provide a slightly higher battery life.

as prasad said, battery life and heat is the main issue. the p9500 uses 40% less electricity than the T9400
(t9400 is just an old revised cpu, not new)

Also, what are the differences between the 9800 GTS and GT? what are they comparative to? Is the Intel turbo memory a must if I get 4 gigs of regular RAM. Also, where the hell can I buy DDR3 notebook memory on my own now? Not Newegg.

think of the 9800m GT like the 8800m GTX
and the 9800m GTS like the 8800m GTX less 10-15%

I dont think there is anywhere to buy ddr3 laptop ram on its own yet.

There is, I believe. Or at least that's what my google-fu yielded.

It's ridiculously expensive though, much to my dismay :(

..back on topic, i am also interested in these two processors.
i heard that some retailers got access to them a while ago, and i read somewhere else they were released july 13th.

does anyone know solid dates for these?

    edit:
the p9500 is available here, but i guess what i want to know is when they would be available on configuration website. i dont suppose i could get an answer for that =p

On the Intel Processor Finder Found, the descriptions shows different features between the two processors. They were both the same apart from the fact that the T9400 had Intel® EM64T 1 and Intel® Virtualization Technology, and the P9500 didnt.

Could anybody explain what this is please?

Please do not revive old posts, simple make a new one if you have a question

The only difference between the T9400 and the P9500 is the power consumption. The P9500 is a more efficient processor which fits in the 25 Watt TDP, while the T9400 is a higher clocked cpu in the 34TDP range.

Both should have Virtualization and 64 bit support

Is it possible to buy a CPU from the US and use it in a laptop in the UK?

No. CPUs manufactured in the U.S. are constructed from Vulcan pico-delta-gamma transistor technology whose performance would severely be hindered in the EMP-generating, hostile sulfuric atmosphere of the UK.

    Yes, you can.
