ok, so I bought a laptop HDD for my brother from pcvonline.com, and chose to have it shipped to him.

The order was placed on Jan 2, 2008. But it doesn't seem like they took my payment until Jan 8 (visa). Then, not until the 11th did they send an electronic request to have it picked up!

Finally, it arrives on the 16th!

It wasn't even express shipped or anything descent.

the HDD did NOT arrive in any kind of box or bubble wrap. The took an 8x10 yellow envelop and wrapped it around the HDD. Then put it in another 8x10 envelop that they folded in half!

Who in their right mind mails an HDD like this? a laptop HDD at that? Even the crappy $5 things i buy from ebay come mailed to me in bubble envelop! That's the dumbest thing ever!

I'm getting my bro to install it and do a full scan of the thing ASAP.

i suggest only buying from them if you are doing it in store. seems like anything mailed will be a miracle if it arrives in one piece.

thanks for the heads up. That's too bad they couldn't put a little bit of effort in to at least ensure that the drive is properly packed.

Well, perhaps they were closed for the holidays.
    Ever thought of that?

But, the packaging is pretty horrid.
