Hi,
I upgraded my Dell XPS1210 from 1Gb (2 X 512Mb) to 4GB (2 x 2GB) of supposed DDR2 PC5300 - 667Mhz.
Today I was doing some research and I found I got DDR2 PC 6400 - 800Mhz instead of the one I asked for.
THe board is supossed to be 667Mhz. In this case, does the memory downclock or could it be damaging my laptop?
Is it better to change it?
Thanks on advance.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
The memory will downclock. There is no harm in using PC6400 memory. It is not better or worse to change it. You may even get some tighter timings, though this will not affect performance in a noticeable way.

The memory will automatically downclock to Pc5300 speeds of 667MHz.
All memory needs to comply with JEDEC standards, meaning that the memory needs to be compatible with a lot of systems, and needs to be able to dynamically switch speeds.

I second what the above said.
So you got lucky you got 800Mhz memory instead of 667, because 800Mhz memory has better compatibility and uses lower latency, which is better.
So let it be like it is, as there's nothing wrong!
