I presume this replaces the good ol' PCMCIA slot, but what PCI Express Card Type II cards can we get???
-
PCI Express Card 2 is a desktop hardware, not notebook.

I think he is talking about the new ExpressCard PCI-E slots that are now used on a lot of laptops in place of the older PCMCIA PCI slots.
GLO, you can check Newegg for some of the current ExpressCard devices that are available. There aren't any sound cards yet that i've seen and i'm not sure if there are any TV tuners but there is like USB, SATA, wireless card type adapters. -
Just to clarify, this is on a notebook!
I/O Ports
USB 2.0 x 3
Firewire (IEEE1394) x 1
RJ-45 Ethernet Port x 1
RJ-11 Modem port x 1
VGA/D-Sub x 1
PCI Express Card (Type II) x 1
DC-in for power supply x 1
Microphone-in x 1
Line-out x 1
DTV Antenna Jack x 1
See BenQ S61 specs -
New Egg list devices as
Card slot: 1 x Type II PC Card & 1 x Express Card
So im even more confused now, because the BenQ lists a PCI Express Card Type II slot.

Yup, burningrave101 is correct and you are correct as well. Express Card is newer version of PCMCIA card.

That means the notebook has one PCMCIA Type II slot and one ExpressCard slot. There are no "Type II ExpressCards". There are two different types of ExpressCards, 34 and 54. ExpressCard 34's are roughly half the size of the 54's. -
The thing is that I tried my DLink DWL-650+ which is a PC Card Type II CardBus PCMCIA card and it wouldnt fit all the way in.
I would have thougtht that the new laptops would be still be comaptible with Type II PCMCIA cards??? -

Most do not include them; ExpressCard is the replacement for the PCMCIA slot as posted.
Did it work? Some cards don't go all the way in. Try another laptop and see if you have the same issue. -
It didnt go in all the way and the plastic piece that sits in that slot when its not being used is stepped on the end. I will try to find a photo of what i mean.
But in short, its not square like the PCMCIA cards. -
The plasitic piece looks like the Express card in the middle.
PCI Express Card Type II slot???
