I could be wrong but I don't think you can connect an SSD through PCI-e, thought they were SATA connections.

Are you sure you aren't running in to "Express" slot laptop cards? These are different from PCI-e.

mini pcie ports are the small ports on the inside of the laptop. They are basically only used for intel turbo memory modules, tv tuners, wireless and bluetooth devices.

If you are talking about the expresscard slots on the side of the laptop, than you can use what dynamicnet mentioned.

However both of the SSD's he recommended, as well as all expresscard SSD's are very slow, and are slower than almost every mechanical drive.
This is because they are not pursued by SSD manufacturers, so they are many generations of SSD tech behind an actual SSD SATA drive.

These are the same SSDs used to upgrade eeepc's. They have extremely slow read and write speeds; I would recommend them only for an eeepc user.

The ones which I posted the link too are in fact "for" EEE PC's but can really be used with most laptops with a corresponding mini pci slot.

Nobody had mentioned these and I believe thats what the OP is talking about.

I am not sure if it is going to work. I imagine that it would.
What kind of boot options are their in the Bios?
Does the system allow you to boot from any kind of device other than the harddrive or optical drive?

It will work with upcoming Samsung mini pci-e SSD with sata controller.

It won't work with any of the netbook mini pci-e ssd, since they assume you have a sata controller attached to it's pins, which notebooks don't. Search for "flashcon" to see how the pinouts differ.

Come on guys.... Similar posts have come up recently. It won't work other than Eee or Inspiron Mini 9 netbooks.

Mini PCIe SSD only borrows the form factors. It's not designed for others as it has proprietary connection method specially design for those netbooks. Just try it if you want to spend those dollars for nothing.
