Hello all!
I own a P7805U FX notebook, and unfortunately the wireless card (Intel 5100) that is currently installed can longer hold a consistent connection. Not so noticeable when browsing, but for online gaming it's intolerable. I've looked online for similar card that might be compatible, but I can't really tell which cards I can use and which I can't. Newegg isn't very helpful as their selection of PCIe cards is very limited. What would you guys suggest?
Thanks in advance!

Intel 5000 series, Intel 6000 series and any other half-height adapters. Note that your adapter might be full height. This is a half-height adapter for reference: NCIX US - Buy 622AN.HMWG - Intel WiFi Link 6200 Half Height Minicard Vpro Enabled 100C - Intel - Great price and fast delivery. If you do have a full height one, there are brackets that allow you to fit a half height in a laptop designed for a full height adapter.

if it could hold connection before but can not anymore then it's most likely not the card itself. Check how many other networks you have around, and on what channel those are running.
recently I had to change my channel due to too many other networks using it, thus there was some performance drop. -
It likely isn't the network. There's a PS3 running Netflix in the next room. If there was a performance drop, it would be more noticeable there than anyplace else.
My card is full-height. Can you link me to one of the brackets you mentioned? -
This is the one i got for my N50: bracket of mini half intel 6250 6200 wlan card to pci-e | eBay. miro does have a point though, the problem could be elsewhere, driver problem for example.

Uninstalled the driver and re-installed the latest from Intel.com. Same problem. Also considered that it might be the program. Primarily my problem is playing SWTOR, but when I tried to play counter-strike I still encountered pretty awful lag. Any other suggestions would be appreciated, but right now I think my best bet is to get another card.
Speaking of which, any site in particular that has a good selection? As I said, Newegg doesn't have much. -
Make sure you have the power management settings for the card turned all the way up to max performance. Mine defaulted to some kind of 'balanced' mode and the latency to the access point was really bad with a lot of dropped packets. Since I turned it up it's been rock-solid.
EDIT: I mean the individual settings for the Wifi card itself, not the system-wide power plan. It'll be something like 'Transmit Power' that you want to look for. -
A good suggestion! But regrettably, the Transmit Power setting is already at it's highest. In fact I reconfigured the card's settings according to Intel's specs for max performance. It seems my card is longer fit for service, but in terms of things to die on this PC, it could be a lot worse. When the graphics card goes, I am totally screwed.
