After clean installing Windows 7, I went through the Device Manager to see what drivers I still need. The only one I couldn't find a drvier for was something called "PCI Simple Communications Controller." The hardware IDs are:
I have an Acer Aspire 7740. I tried looking on the Acer website for drivers, but to no avail. What is this? Do I even need a driver for it?

I tried googling it before making the thread, but I must have only tried the first ID instead of doing what you did. I found the driver here, in case anyone else has the same problem.

Well, there was a lot of asking for what device it was, but among them was one post about IME and i remember looking for that after a clean install on my G73 as well.
