Are PCI and PCI bus the same thing??

PCI IS a bus...
What are you trying to do? More information would be very helpful.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 29, 2015 -
PCI is a slot on most motherboards, where peripherals can be added. For example, a sound card or PCI graphics card. The PCI Bus links all the PCI devices. The PCI Bus also extends to some devices that are built onto a motherbaord, like integrated sound.

I'm wanting to buy a video card for my desktop that only supports PCI connections. The video card I was looking at said PCI Bus, so I wanted to make sure that it is the right connector.

Depends on what your desktop has in it. You have either PCI (a white slot), or AGP (a brown slot), or a PCIe (I think they're normally black... I don't have one myself, only on computers newer than 2005 or so). Go ask in the Desktop forum for more details. It's quite likely that you have an AGP slot, so you don't want to lose performance by getting a PCI video card.
