Hello all, I posted this question in the M4400 owners thread but have had no awnsers/ ideas as of yet. So I thought it a good idea to post it here in the hardware forum instead.
My Dell M4400 is set up to use an intel turbo flash cache memory module in the mini-pci express card slot (internal) to speed up the process' when using a slower HDD.
I would like to know what modules and formats could take advantage of this feature. Idealy a high capacity card, Sata based 16gb mini-pci express card that could be used to help limit the ammount of write and rewrites to the hard drive.
What I would like to accomplish is to help curb the small write/ temporary storage access to my SSD hard drive. I know that TRIM will help delay the performance loss when the drive starts to run out of unwritten pages, but keeping unnecessary writes off the drive in the first place seems the best idea to me.
Can I pull this off?
Is it just plug and play? or will there need to be additional software in place to direct the OS as to what programms access which drives?
What hardware is best/ fastest?
P.S. this is all with the assumption that I will already have the RAM maxed at 8GB, 160gb SSD hard drives, potentially a second HDD in a caddy, and Windows 7 ultimate.
PCI express mini flash (turbo) memory?
