GPU-Z shows that my PCI-E is using x8 speed while my friends laptop shows PCI-E x16 @ x16.

    My specs:

    FSC Amilo xa 2528-22p
    AMD TL-60 x2 (2ghz)
    GeForce 8600 GS 256mb
    2 gb ram

My friend has a 8400 GS and his runs on x16 speed? Whats wrong?

doesn't make any difference at all. the card is too weak to take any advantage of the bandwidth.
it could be the motherboard, only having a 8 lane pci e slot. but don't worry about it, cos there is no performance hit.

Tomshardware did a review on the affects of diffrent PCI-e's and the only one that sufferd anything accountable was pci-e. They used an 8800gtx i belive they just put tape over the pins so they didnt work.
