I was reading about using the PCIe SSD as a swap file and was wondering if this was possible for my gateway e-100m since I have a free pci-e slot. I currently have a 320gb hard drive, ulv processor and 2 gig of memory. If this is indeed possible would I see a decent speed increase and what size ssd would be recommended?

there are no decent pci-e ssd's. all have a very crappy performance. and the best ones are very expensive. it's not worth it imo. about supporting it it's just a bios issue. you have to check it.
if you have an optical drive you can remove it and install a HDD or SSD.
you may possible use the card reader with a good SD card. though it will be much cheapper performance will be still very lame. -

Not possible with notebooks. Netbooks share the same PCI-E connector but have PATA and/or SATA I/O pins in there. Notebooks only have PCI and USB pins in there - so no it won't work. If you want a SSD consider using the your systems primary bay for the SSD, moving the HDD into a hotswappable optical bay caddy (see sig).

That notebook doesn't have an optical drive... It does use a 2.5" sata drive though...you could gain some speed by replacing your 320 with a SSD, but that would be smaller and expensive. As long as you have a 7200rpm drive I wouldn't worry about it.

I would contemplate doing it, but there is simply not enough room in my pci-e space to combine both cards into a makeshift single card. -
its just that 32gb doesnt cut it for me and i dont have $200 dollars to spare to replace my current ssd with a 64 gb one!
what other upgrade could i put in a pcie slot in my lappy? -
