hey guys i was just wondering, i have a 1tb western digital external drive with usb 2.0, firewire400 and firewire800. been using it with firewire 400 since it gives better performance. i have a few questions though:
1- i assume since i have a firewire-mini connector in my laptop that i have firewire400...and not 800. am i wrong? or is there a mini-version of the connector for 800?
2-i've read about some pcmcia cards that give out firewire ports; is it worth pursuing some adapters that give firewire 800 through pcmcia? or is that slot slower than 800, making some kind of bottleneck?

    thanks a lot in advance

The pcmcia databus is slower than the mini firewire port on your laptop.

There are mini firewire 800 ports, but no laptop on the market has it.
