Well, my question is, if I get a notebook with only an express card 54 slot, will a PCMCIA card work in an express card 54 slot? If not, is there some sort of usb adapter that will let me use a PCMCIA card?

The reason I ask, is because the notebook I'm looking at does not have a PCMCIA slot, and I have a PCMCIA WAN card I would very much like to use when I'll be down in the SF Bay area for a week, and I have no idea if I'll be able to get wifi when I need it...

Thanks in advance for the help!

PCMCIA will NOT work in an Express Card slot.

And as for as I know, there are no PCMCIA-USB adapters. I may be wrong, but I've never seen of them.

They do make them, but they are expensive. Here is a quick search on goolge found.

Yes, they are very expensive, probably more than the pcmcia card was. DL.TV just did a segment on these adapters last week.

It would be cheaper to just get a new WAN card. Cingular has them for about $50 after rebate.
