Is PCMCIA the same as Cardbus? Looking on Newegg.com I can't tell the difference between the two. And can I put any PCMCIA into a Cardbus reader?

Isn't Cardbus just the same thing as PCMCIA, but just the version higher?

For all practical purposes, yes. The two terms are used interchangeably.

Strictly speaking, however, PCMCIA is a standards commitee that sets standrds for PC Cards. Cardbus is the 32-bit revision of PC Card.

Actually, the ExpressCard is faster and uses less power.

yeah the interchangability is what I am bummed about. that's why I love having the PS1 controllers able to be used for the PS2. sorry random thought and comparison.

are there any comps that still come with the Cardbus and have express?

The Acer 8204 has both, although only has the 34 version of ExpressCard (think it's 34) not the larger sizes.
