Hi, I need a serial port on my Dell Inspiron laptop. It is essential that it has an IRQ number an IO Address, things which I have discovered USB based converters cannot supply.

Does anyone know if PCMCIA Serial port adaptors provide IRQ and IO addresses?

Is PCMCIA equivalent to PCI buses in desktops?

    Many thanks
