I may not be in the right forum, but I'm hoping someone can help! I have a DELL Insipiron and am running XP. My DVD drive has stopped appearing in My Computer (this happened once before and I fixed the problem by following a microsoft link which changed some of my registry settings) and I tried the link that had worked before but this time I get a msg saying that the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters I ned to get rid of don't exist in my registry (this is true - I've been in the registry and they're not there). How can I get my DVD drive back? I've googled this and not found any satisfactory (or intelligible!) answers. Anybody know what to do, or where I could go for help?

Do not go in your registry in the future unless you really know what you are doing! That said, the quick attempt to fix is go to device manager uninstall DVD. Restart this will force it to reinstall and all should be fine.
