    Hi people,

Has anybody sucesfully tested any notebook with PM965 chipset and processors supporting 800Mhz bus with 800MHz Ram??

Did it actually work at 800MHz?
I found a good deal on 800Mhz RAM, but if my mobo chipset is not supporting the full what is the point of buying...

    Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks!

on the gateway p-68xx series it clocks down to 667mhz :(
you might get a lower latency numbers but this translate to zero performance in real life.

Its the 965 mobile chipset family that supports upto DDR2-667 only. So any Santa-Rosa based notebook will support upto DDR2-667.

DDR2-800 even with a 800MHz FSB CPU, will downclock to DDR2-667.

If the 800Mhz is cheaper or the same price as any 667Mhz get the 800Mhz as it will not do any harm. It might even do lower latencies thann any 667Mhz memory as it will get downclocked.
