Hi. Can anybody tell me where I can get a diagram or any disassembly instructions for changing a hard drive on a Packard Bell Easynote TR87 please. I have looked online with no success. I have never attempted this task before and I am not a techie. I am getting SMART warnings of an imminent drive failure. I intend to clone the drive using a USB-SATA cable and hopefully the physical swap will not be too difficult. Thanks in advance.

Highly recommend you save your data to as many external drives as you can, RIGHT NOW.
Do not clone the drive, do a clean install instead (if you clone a corrupted system file, uhh...).
Good luck. -
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, your link refers to the S series, which looks quite different to my TR87.
Having deleted off anything unimportant, the remaining used space is quite little. I did an image copy to an external drive but I read that a clone would be the easiest for a non techie like me. As my unit came with Windows 7 pre installed, I do not have a Wins 7 disk. I have also got the original recovery disks and I have done a "rescue media" and a Packard Bell "My backup pilots & apps" disk. The laptop is performing normally apart from the start up warnings of a SMART error and the need to pres F1 at boot up.
Do I
1: copy an image to the new drive, connected externally using a USB-SATA lead and then fit it?
2: Fit the new blank drive and boot up using the external drive and then copy the image across?
or
3: clone using the USB-SATA lead and then fir it?
Any suggestions most appreciated.
