I just purchased a used CF-28 Toughbook, a Pentium III 800. Nifty machine except that the standard 256mb of ram isn't quite cutting it. So:

    1. How difficult is it to upgrade the ram (to 512)?
    2. Can somebody suggest a good place to order memory for this unit?

    Thank you.

Scan the notebook on crucial.com and it will tell you what kind you need. Then go to newegg.com and check their prices.

Oh, and it's pretty easy to install ram.

I appreciate the advice, but the scan is unlikely to work: this machine is Linux only :)

Did you even try the link? Seems like your laptop only has 1 slot for RAM and the max is 256 Mb. Unless Crucial is wrong (which it can be, but is rare), you're out of luck.
