    I just purchased my first laptop, HP dv1000, with 256 RAM... I was planning to upgrade and i wondor, Will any 200-Pin SO-DIMM DDR 333 (PC 2700) fit? What i mean is, I used crucial.com to find what i needed but they charge a bit more than say.. newegg.

    now, by specs do you mean the ones i've listed? Or is there something i'm overlooking?

    Yes all you need is any DDR PC2700 ram, Most common brands
    Kingston, crucial, Pny .....are fine but i would stay away from genaric.
    BTW max memory is 2 gigs

    another question along this line...what is the max speed to put in this computer? And if the RAM I put in is faster than the speed of the RAM already in the computer (333) will that slow the aftermarket RAM down?

    Well the max speed it will run at is 333 PC2700 you can put a higher speed in but the computer will run it at 333. So if your buying, stick with the cheaper PC2700 but if you already have some like i do It's fine to use in the computer. I have one stick of PC2700 and one stick of PC3200.
