Tried using "Search this Forum" for Patriot and got nothing so search must not be working?

I can get a brand new Patriot Pyro 120Gb SATA III bare drive for $129 delivered from a very reputable dealer.

Is this drive any good or is there some reason why this drive is so much cheaper than the M4 and Samsung 830?

Found one review... seems like there is a reason the Pyro is so cheap...

I'm going for the SanDisk Ultra SDSSDH-120G-G25 myself. $135 for 120gb with 280/270 isn't bad imho. Plus it gets good reviews on NewEgg for overall reliability and on various forums people seem to have good luck with it.

I won't be able to order mine until next friday but I'd gladly let you know how it turns out if you still haven't purchased an SSD in the next 2 weeks.

Ah, decisions. I'm having the hardest time finding a the best SSD manufacturer to go with since I don't want to pay 2$/GB for an Intel or Samsung. Time for more research :p

Depending on the size SSD you are looking to buy, the Samsung 830 kit can be had for much less than $2/GB. I'd hope that the new Intel 520 will help to drive down the price of the older 510 too?

I personally wouldn't touch the pyro. The sandforce 2281 controller paired with cheap 25nm nand is more conducive to bsods and failures. The net is full of such reports. Definitely go with the M4 or 830, or the more expensive sandforce drives that have 32/34nm nand like the wildfire, max iops etc

In this case, you definitely get what you pay for
