What is the difference between PC and PC2?![]()
I've seen some people saying they have a PC-5300 RAM on their new laptop, but all I see is PC2-5300 RAM being offered on laptop sites.
Sorry if this is a horrible thread, I'm just confused.
If there's no difference, it is just the naming, please let me know.

Any simple answer?

I'm not sure, but PC might be DDR RAM (Double Data Rate) and PC2 might stand for a more recent DDR2 refresh. DDR Meaning the RAM runs at twice the speed of the system bus.

PC=DDR, PC2=DDR2, non compatable different pins and voltage.

Yes, the 2 refers to DDR2 but since most memories these days are DDR2 and there arent any official DDR PC5300 rated RAM, the 2 is sometimes not mentioned even when refering to DDR2 memory.
Ofiicially DDR memories are only available upto PC 3200, anything over it especially when it comes to notebook memories can safely be assumed to be DDR2. -
Oh! Thank you all for the info. Not confused anymore. Thanks again.

Just alot of people forget to put the 2 after the pc
Pc-5300 / Pc2-5300 Ram
