Hai,
I have been absent following Intel's Processors about 8 months.
my girlfriend want to buy notebook, and he asked me.
and I saw Pentium Dual Core T3200, I never heard this technology before,
the last time I remembered about Intel's Processor is Core2Duo "Santa Rosa"
if we compare with the same clock speed, does this Pentium Dual Core T3200 has a same speed as Core2Duo "Santa Rosa" ?
and about the Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T5800 (2.0GHz), does this processor is the same as Core2Duo "Santa Rosa" I'm talking about ?
Thanks and Regards

I think I understand your question. OK all chips mentioned are Santa Rosa so consider that.
So to answer your question are they the same speed? Yes CPU is the same clocks the C2D has a faster FSB 800Mhz vs 533Mhz FSB. This both means it can handle faster RAM. Also it will communicate with the system faster.
The T3200 only has 1MB L2 vs T5800 is 2MB L2. That larger L2 will improve performance. How much depends what you do. The T3200 is a fine CPU I don't know what your GF does but would be expecting to see in sub $600 notebooks. -
Thanks Power Pack for your fast reply,
Yes my girlfriend want to buy a notebook around 600 USD.
I want to ask one more question regarding about core2duo,
When the 1st core2duo processor came, I believe there was no "santa rosa" in that chip (that processor use Intel GMA945 Chipset).
so did u said that this Pentium Dual Core T3200 almost as the same as the processor that I mention it above (533MHZ, 1MB L2) ? but the chipset is different the newest one using GMA960 and the processor that I mention it above using GMA945.
Am I right ?
Thanks and Regards -
Both Cpu's you mention use the 965 family chipset (Santa Rosa). The 945 I believe was the Napa?
With a PDC think GL960 chipset. It has the GMAX3100.
The T5800 is a better CPU and likely has GM965. I can't tell you more unless I know the computer? But If the price is good the PDC is good. It is the same chip. -
The T3200 and the T5800 were initially released as Budget Processors for the Montevina Platform. But are now being used in a handful of Santa-Rosa notebooks as well.
The T5800 is a rebadged T5870, with VT probably.
When buying the notebook, check the graphics adapter/chipset.
If it is the X3100, then the notebook is Santa Rosa based (GL960/GM965), and if it is the GMA4500HD, the notebook is Montevina based (GL40/GM45). -
the t5800 is a t7250 i ran an old version of cpu-z with a t5800 and it picked it up as that minus VT

The number of 2.0GHz Intel Dual-Core processors is really getting confusing!
T7200- 667MHz FSB, 4mb L2- OLD
T7250- 800MHz FSB, 2mb L2- being phased out (Dell still offers it)
T7300- 800MHz FSB, 4mb L2- was replaced by T7250 with less L2 cache?
T5750- 667MHz FSB, 2mb L2- replaced by the T5800
T5870- 800MHz FSB, 2mb L2- used by Toshiba and Dell business models
T3200- 667MHz FSB, 1mb L2- a T5750 with half the L2 cache?
T5800- 800MHz FSB, 2mb L2- replaced T5750, same specs as T7250, T5870
P7350- 1066MHz FSB, 3mb L2*- new Montevina/Centrino 2 entry model
*All are manufactured using 65nm process except the P7350 (45nm).
Clear as mud, right?
Making apples-to-apples comparisons of these -
2.0GHz Intel Dual-Core -- You forgot the T2500 and the T2410..

To put the bus speed into an analogy, think of bus speed as a highway for data to flow in your computer. The higher the bus speed, the faster data can travel. The processor speed is roughly like how fast your car can go. Just because you have a mustang that can go 120 mph, doesn't mean it can go 120 mph when you get stuck in traffic that is going 33 mph. A higher bus speed within the same class of processors is basically like getting onto a highway that the traffic is moving faster. Hopefully that rough analogy makes some sense.

You might want to read the stickies. It sort of answers all the questions you've asked.

i have a question about the T3200
does it have 2 procesors?
so it will have 2x 2000Mhz (4Ghz in total)?
and is that the also with the T5870?
