TL-52 is much much better! It is 64 bit, they both have 1MBL2 but Intels by design need more compared AMD to compete. The TL is newer technology the Pentium is 3 generation old technology, the Intel above it, core duo is about neck and neck with TL not this one, even w/higher clock speed TL still wins and the intel is probably going to tie you to a GMA 950 GPU which is the worst IGP any AMD is going to come with a IGP that is better.

....but the IGP that comes with AMD usually doesn't have as good power savings as the GMA 950 and the CPU itself consumes more power as well.

64-bit is essentially useless today in August 2007 and in terms of performance, I'm going to reserve judgment until I see real benchmarks, which there are surprisingly few of. Throwing out things like "3 generation old technology" is being vague because some older Intel mobile processors are still better than today's AMD ones, not to menton the Pentium Dual-Cores are only 2 generations old as they are similar to Intel Core.

1st of all two of you (avatar) and you have guns? Hardly seems fair. :D
If with the GMA that is achieved thru reduced performance I will pass. The CPU yes Intel's run cooler and use less power.
64-bit useless? I disagree, needed no, but not useless. Trust me if the benchmarks were in Intel's favor on this one you would see them out there, lot more Intel guys out there. On the point of correctly stating 3rd generation as “being vague” then following up with "some older Intel's...” are “better than today's AMD...” seems very similar to what you accused me of, being vague, which ones?

If the question had been about core duo I would of said toss up, C2D I would of said yes faster.

Well in this case the AMD processor is a better choice.

Using wPrime as a Benchmark the TL-52 seems to beat Core and Core 2s at 1.66GHz. The 2080 has 1.73GHz but half the cache of the Core Duos and a lower FSB, so I'll guess the TL-52 is slightly ahead in terms of power. As has been said if you are getting an integrated GPU, the ones supplied with AMD cpus are more powerful than with Intel.

Until the X3100 showed up on the scene, as the 6150 and x200m are likely no match for it.................

I agree and I think that is good. I highly suspect Pentium Dual Core are not paired with that card.

I think you are correct, as the mfgrs are pushing the older chipset w/GMA 950 on the Pentium Dual Core. This may change when the P965 chipset is the only solution in production........

Well yes, but the x200m is 2+ year old technology. You would have to compare it to the newer x1250 or x1270 gpus, which I think come out on top vs. the x3100.

hmmm that might happen R4000 but I think Intel may keep the old chipset in production to cater to that niche. Kind of like the old celeron and pentium Ms. they maybe old news but I myself bought a brand new celeron M laptop only 8-10 months ago and it had parts which were produced recently.

I'd go for the Turion, Intel got to carried away with stripping down their Core Duo processors. 533 fsb, 1mb of L2 cache instead of 2mb, no 64 bit support is just lame.

If I were to get a AMD cpu though, I would at least try to get a newer 65nm with the newer chipset.
