I tried the pinmod on my Asus A6G but it's still running at 1.6GHz. I followed this guide.

First I put in a really tiny copper wire. After that didn't work I put in a little bit thicker iron wire. No effect.

    Any ideas?

Maybe my chipset doesn't support it I thought.

Make sure that your wire isn't shorting out at all, and it's getting good contact when the processor is inserted into the socket. Those are common problems with pinmods... when you apply the pressure to the CPU it disconnects the wire and keeps it from properly shorting the pins.

The 855 series only supports 400MHz CPUs. I tried it once on my Inspiron 700m and it didn't work, but it did on my old Joybook S72 (next generation chipset).

Nope, doesn't work with i855. Only Sonoma (915) because it has a higher FSB (533mhz). Other wise I would have pin modded my 725 a long time ago. :D

It won't work. I put in a Pentium M 750 (1.86GHz) into one and it would run at up to 1.4GHz.

Yeah I did not read very well :)

But on the good side, I've cleaned my fans and applied new thermal paste.

you need Intel 915 to use pinmoded PM725 instead of a Sonoma processor.

Interesting that your system still works after pinmoding.

WOW, interesting find. I did not know it would work. Did you pinmode PM750 or just inserted it?

I just inserted it, basically for the upgrade from Pentium M 1.4GHz 1MB Cache, to Pentium M 1.4GHz 2MB Cache, because I had the processor spare.
