Im wondering what the performance difference speed wise would be, because I'm looking at that cheap momentus which is 250GB... or at a 7k320 which is 160GB both 7200 RPM but someone said 250GB hdd's will be slower? How much slower? The 90GB increase isnt a huge deal to me so this part is important

    Thanks

The 250GB might be a bit better....

The Seagate and Hitachi Models have a different config, for the 250GB models. But I believe that the 250GB 7200.3, will have slightly better transfer rates than the 160GB 7K320.

That Seagate is good, and a great price for the 250GB, I would advise to go for it.

the seagate is supposedly faster than the 7k320, but we will have to see. I have some 7k320's and I have to test them.
The 250gb is supposed to use two platters with three heads, so the drive should be very comparable in speed to the 160gb single platter drive and the 320gb double platter drives.
Keep in mind single platter solutions have faster access times, so it may be faster, even though hdtune (synthetic tests) may show different.

EIther are so fast that it really doesnt matter, you will be getting one of the fastest mechanical drives which can be used in a notebook.

I may have been saying that. Turns out I was wrong.

Seagate 250GB 7200.3 turns out to as fast as the 320GB. (even a little bit faster in HD Tune)
